A New Twist on "For Better or For Worse"

Shout Out to the Hubby

Stuck to our refrigerator is a list written on a torn piece of paper towel (this list was quickly jotted down to help alleviate my anxiety from all the "to-dos" running through my mind, so the first thing I grabbed was the nearest paper in my immediate reach...paper towel).  I don't know why I haven't transferred this list to a pretty piece of paper in nice penmanship yet.  Maybe because that would be just one more thing to do.

This list is broken up into two sections, the first being things me and hubby need to get done by the end of September and the second being things we need to make sure we get done before Polka arrives.  September is our most free month over the next four, hence the need to put as many of the bigger to-dos into September as we can.  "Things to do" range from bigger, more time-consuming and thought-provoking projects (i.e. our wills and a baby budget) to the most mundane household items (i.e. get the downstairs carpet cleaned and doing another major spring cleaning).   So far, we've found September to be a very balanced month between being productive and making headway scratching things off that list, as well as relaxing and good hubby/Meggie/Molly time that is filled with laughter.

On the order this past weekend of tasks put Matt into a handy-man role, one that is unfamiliar to him yet a role he's ready to take on, tackle and learn with a willingness and patience that I do not have in the least.  We had to replace some weather stripping and fix a toilet that was making vibrating sounds after the tank filled up after flushing.  I won't go into too many details because I have no idea about anything that I'm writing about, except that I want to give a big shout-out to my hubby!  He did an amazing job researching what he needed to fix things, going and getting what he needed, and fixing it...successfully!  There are some household maintenance things on our list that we know we'll need to get outside help on to diagnose and fix, but for those projects that don't require a contractor or major repair work, Matt is one dependable handy-man!  I am so thankful for his willingness to take on these projects and do them well, and I'm thankful he's willing to enter task mode when we need to get things in gear because he knows how it blesses me so to scratch things off a list, the type-A personality that I am.  Thank you, dear Matt!  You did a GREAT job!  And now, we just need to tackle...<grin>

way to go, matt. handy-man and griller, both. :) there is something so satisfying about crossing things off a list--i'm right there with you, meg. we enjoyed being a part of some of your fun time this weekend!

Meghan,

Just wanted to thank you for including your Colorful Black Bean Salad in the Siesta Fiesta cookbook. I made it yesterday and we had it for dinner last night and LOVED it. I am planning to make it again this weekend when my in-laws come for dinner. It is so healthy and refreshing and I just love the basil in it. Basil is one of my favorite spices.

Thanks again!!!
