The Best of Austin

Next weekend, a dear childhood friend of mine is coming to Austin for special girls' time! She is getting married in a few weeks, having a destination wedding in Aspen, CO and Matt and I are fortunate to get to go. She's not having any wedding attendees and decided that instead of having a bridal shower, she'd rather come to Austin for girls' time with me. What a treat it's going to be to host her, spoil her and love on her! I'm not sure what I'm going to do with Matt for the weekend, but we'll figure out something. Any takers? <grin>
Here's where I need your help, Internet peeps, particularly those of you who live in Austin or have visited yourselves and remember special places of interest that you went to while you were here. My friend, Lauren, lives in Dallas, and she's somewhat familiar with Austin, but hasn't spent too much time here. So what are your all's favorite Austin hot spots? If a good friend of yours were coming to Austin, where would you take them? What would you do? Where would you eat (and she and I LOVE food!)? I already have appointments set for manicures on Saturday, and I want to make it a special weekend for her before she gets married. What are your "Best of Austin" suggestions, or any other suggestions to make it a fun girls' weekend of pampering and partying? Thanks ya'll! You never cease to amaze me with your creative and thoughtful suggestions!
Austin definitely shines when it comes to good eating!! A few personal faves are Hula Hut (for the great atmosphere), Z Tejas (especially on the porch), Eastside Cafe, and of course some fun breakfast at Kerbey Lane.

When my best friend came we spent a lot of time at lakes and walking trails, as they do not have those where she lives and I'm desperately trying to convince her to move here. But if we had been focused on girly time I would have taken her to Bath Junkie. There's one at Lakeline Mall. You can buy almost any bath product and choose the scent and color! We took her to eat at the Iron Cactus downtown and ate on the roof, and we took her to the remodeled Oasis, at which she asked us if we put Austin on its best behavior.
I'll see if Ben would like to take Bismark on a playdate with Molly to occupy Matt =)
