A Power Struggle

Seven Months Later

picture 194

Seven months later and I…

Am a gymnasium.

Perform any and every kooky antic and sound in the hopes of inducing a grin.  Giggles are a bonus.

‘Moo’, ‘Meow’, ‘Neigh’, ‘Woof’, and ‘Cock-a-doodle do’ like a broken record.

Am a referee to make sure Molly doesn’t demolish anymore toys.

Am captivated by those eyes.

Quickly bound up the stairs knowing I’ll find a blonde-haired babe with bed head and a big grin.

Listen intently to words that sound very much like “dada ada”… and when you’re really upset about something, “ama ama”.

Clean very different diapers than when you’re were just drinking milk <grin>.

Try so hard to be creative to play with you, to come up with things to do; and yet, you’re so happy playing with my hands to get them to clap or dumping toys out of the jar to discover how to put them back in.

Am storing up any rare extra ounces of energy to chase after a soon-to-be-mobile baby.

Offer my legs and arms as musical instruments.

Am fairly comfortable taking you out since you’re easily amused by your new surroundings and people watching.

Think it’s conceivable to build my arm muscles since you are a solid chunk o’ love.

Savor your three naps a day, especially since you still wake up at the crack of dawn (a.k.a. 6 a.m.).

Think it’s wildly exciting to see what facial expression will accompany a new taste from the food I make you, grateful you’re willing to give everything a try since more often than not, you come to love it.

Find your “punky” (in Meems’ words) personality irresistible.

Pray.  Pray.  Pray for wisdom to know how to raise you.

Dread the day my smothering you with kisses will become a nuisance.

Count one cut tooth; zero attempts at rolling from your back to your tummy; two occasions when you’ve kissed your reflection in the mirror; a handful of times I can tell you’re throwing a bit of a tantrum; thousands of ways you’ve melted my heart.

Call you “little drummer boy” since you’re intently fascinated at what things sound like when banging them.

Never found it more delightful to be splashed with water because you love splishin’ and a splashin’.

Thank God for helping me get this far.

Look to Him to give me the strength I need for today.

Trust He’s my bright Hope for tomorrow.

Am smitten.

OH mom/gma

The joy of watching you "grow" daily into your new role of Brennan's mommy is a gift. The love that you have for that little one is unspeakable...and it only gets better and more! His precious "punkiness" shines through those beautiful blue eyes! A wonderful, loving and heart-felt writing.....

He's so adorable Meg! I'm pretty sure Emie will be smitten with him when they meet in October!

Aw. That made me cry a little. So sweet! So happy you're enjoying every bit of him - he's very, very, very beautiful indeed.

Love hearing all the things that each month brings being a Momma to Brennan. Just when you think he can't get any cuter he does with those blue overalls , blue eyes and the biggest smile!
